Elementary & Middle School Intervention

Bigfork Elementary and Middle Schools are committed to ensuring that all students learn and grow to their full potential through high quality, research based instruction. As part of this commitment, Bigfork has implemented the Response to Intervention (RTI) model to identify K-8 students who are struggling learners in reading and math and intervene with research based materials and programs so that the students become proficient in these areas as quickly as possible.

Ahead of the school year 2022-2023, Bigfork Schools adopted the Fast Bridge assessment platform. Students are assessed three times a year using Fast Bridge as well as DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) and other formative assessments to determine if students are at benchmark (grade level).

For reading, Bigfork Elementary School utilizes the Reading Mastery and Wonders curriculum. Students are placed in reading groups based on their skill level. These groups are flexible, meaning students can move between groups once mastery of the skill has been met.

For math, Bigfork Schools uses the Bridges math curriculum. Bridges is new for the 2022-23 school year and will provide a consistent curriculum model throughout grade levels. It will support teachers in ensuring students acquire the math skills they need for success.
