Frequently Asked Questions

What Is The Dress Code?

Our school requires that all students will exercise good taste with regard to their personal appearance.

Shorts, skorts, dresses, and skirts must be below fingertip length.

No spaghetti strap shirts.

No mid-riffs or navel showing.

No drug slogans, beer/alcohol slogans, or inappropriate pictures should be displayed on shirts.

Children will go outside for recess almost every day. During rainy and snowy weather, they should have a warm waterproof coat, a hat, mittens and waterproof footwear. We strongly recommend that you mark all of your child’s items with his/her name and grade in permanent marker.

How Can I Communicate With My Child's Teacher?

Email is the most effective way and is accessible through this website. Search our Directory for contact information for all Bigfork School District teachers and staff.

How Can I Leave A Message For My Child?

We purposely protect student learning time and appreciate it when disruptions to the classroom are minimized. However, if you must get a message to your child, we ask that you call the office before 2:00 p.m. You can also leave a voice message on the teacher’s voice mail.

What To Do for Illness, Absence, or Tardiness

If your child is going to be absent or late to school, please call our attendance line at: 837-7412  and select option 1. A voice mail system is available 24 hours a day. If your child arrives after 8:00 a.m., he or she must check in at the office to pick up a pink slip to ensure our attendance records are accurate.

I Need To Pick Up My Child Early

If your child needs to be excused from class during the day, you must come to the office to pick up your child and you must sign him/her out before taking your child off campus.

I Need To Change Today's Transportation For My Child

Please try to make after-school plans with your child before the day begins. It is very stressful for young children who are not sure how they are getting home. We have a “No Note, No Change” policy.

If your child rides a bus and you will be picking him/her up, or if your child usually gets picked up and must ride a bus, it is imperative that they have a note. If it is unavoidable to change a plan during the day, call the office with specific instructions before 2:00 p.m. and we will make sure your child gets the information. This is an essential safety procedure and we thank you for your cooperation.
