First Grade

Welcome to First Grade at Bigfork Elementary School!

1st grade IditaREAD challenge 2024

Our first graders have been working hard on our reading challenge this spring – which follows the Iditarod race in Alaska. Every first grade class worked to reach checkpoints by reading at home and returning a reading log to their teacher. Each class had their own stuffed dog that they took care of at checkpoints and a map to track their progress. Just before Spring Break, they made it to the finish line! All of first grade celebrated by pulling a sled across their “finish line”. The students were the dogs and they were hauling books to the end of the gym. They also got to watch Balto as a celebration of their achievement!
