Welcome to Bigfork High School

Welcome to Bigfork High School!

As both a proud graduate and the current principal of Bigfork High School, it is my pleasure to personally welcome you to our campus.

Bigfork High School is more than just a school—it’s a learning community where both staff and students are committed to showing their best work and best selves on the journey to excellence. We are proud to lead our valley in student-to-class offerings, especially in our robust concurrent enrollment program. Juniors and seniors have access to college-level courses in mathematics, history, English, drafting, and welding. Through our partnership with Flathead Valley Community College (FVCC), students can also take online college courses for elective credit. Many of our graduates leave Bigfork with more than a semester of college already completed.

In addition to academics, we offer a strong journalism program, with three of our students having earned the distinction of Montana Journalist of the Year. While we take pride in our small-town roots, we strive to provide a diverse and enriching curriculum—offering all the opportunities of a larger school while preserving the personal, individualized attention that defines us. At Bigfork, students are more than just a number. They are seen, supported, and prepared to thrive.

Our mission is to develop students who are solution seekers, skillful collaborators, mindful learners, and global citizens—equipped with the leadership qualities necessary to succeed in an ever-changing world.

Despite being one of the smallest schools in Class A, we offer 20 varsity extracurricular programs where students can connect, grow, and excel outside the classroom.

There are so many exciting things happening at Bigfork High School, and we’d love for you to be a part of it.

Go Vikes & Vals!

Portrait of a Learner

Portrait of a learner is a school wide vision that illustrates which specific skills and attributes we must prepare students with in order for them to be successful post-graduation. With thoughtful implementation in our classrooms, we aim to increase student competency in the categories of leadership, collaboration, mindful learning, global citizenship, and solution seeking. Together, these attributes will equip each student with the tools needed to be successful lifelong learners, prepared for their individual lives outside of our school walls.

Bigfork Schools has joined the Battle of the Belts – a Flathead County Health Department initiative for increased seatbelt use. Our high school students in the National Honor Society and Student Council are leading the charge and planning different activities to raise awareness about the importance of seatbelt use.

The students conducted an initial survey on seatbelt use, and the numbers show there is room for improvement: 45% of our students did not wear their seatbelts during their morning drive to school (based on a ticket counter). A follow-up survey was conducted in late spring and showed a great improvement: The most recent survey showed that 87% of our students are wearing their seatbelts!

More activities will follow, including more surveys in the 2024-2025 school year.

So Buckle Up Bigfork and stay safe out there!
